Silence to be observed on Tuesday 6th June

Once again, the whole school will be sharing with the rest of the country in observing the government’s request for a one-minute silence tomorrow at 11am in remembrance of those who have been affected by the attack in London on Saturday night. Mr McIntosh explained this to the children this morning at the end of assembly; as before, the information shared was basic and brief, so that you as parents can decide how much and in what way to discuss the events with your children yourself:

  • The school will be observing a 1-minute silence on Tuesday in the same way we did a couple of weeks ago
  • This is to remember all those who were affected by an attack that happened late at night on Saturday in the centre of London
  • We show togetherness as a country and our respect and compassion towards others by doing this

Miss Rudkin’s assembly this morning referred to the concert in Manchester last night and how people can come together to show unity, strength, resilience and compassion in spite of events such as the Manchester attack. The school newsletter from 25th May contained links to some helpful guidance regarding speaking to children about incidents such as these, should you wish to refer to them.

Home Learning open afternoon (Years 3-5)

There will be a Home Learning open afternoon this Friday from 3-3.30pm where parents/other family members may come into class to view the collection of homework produced by the pupils in the last half term. Please go directly to your child’s class.

Class structure form (Years 3-5)

Please ensure that the pupil form relating to next year’s new class structure is returned to class by Wednesday 7th June. The current class teachers from Years 3-5 will be spending part of Thursday’s polling day school closure in discussions about this in order to prepare the organisation of the three classes going into next year.
